Disciplinary issues

Most disciplinary issues are not easy to deal with. Poor attendance and poor performance tend to be the issues that our clients face most frequently. The informal approach is often suitable on a number of occasions, yet if you find the situation isn’t getting any better, then the next step may be to start a formal process.

Grievance Issues

Employee grievances can be very challenging and time consuming. Finding someone to hear the grievance who isn’t involved in the situation can be difficult

Absence Management

Managing employee absence can be tricky. You want to show compassion and understanding but you have a business to run.Guidance on absence management is advisable as there are a number of employment laws that touch on this area.  There's absence linked to disability, to pregnancy, to when someone is on holiday that all have special rules associated with them.

Managing poor performance

There are times when it is fairly clear that poor performance is a disciplinary matter and you can move straight to that stage.  There are occasions where performance falls into a horrible 'in-between' place: It's not so bad that you feel it justifies disciplinary action but it's just not good enough.

Terminating employment

Terminating employment may be required during the probationary period or after many years of service. This could be due to consistent poor performance to a serious breach of the business’ rules and policies. You may have already started conversations with an employee on this and need guidance on the next steps, or you may wish to start in the near future- whatever your situation, we are here to help you follow the correct employment termination process procedure to minimise risk.

Redundancies

The aim of the service is to ensure that your redundancies are conducted in a legally compliant way. Your business may have hit financial difficulties and needs to take action to reduce costs, or your business is changing direction and different skills will be needed as you move forward. Either way, you need to let some of your existing staff go.
